Year in Review

Highlight Reel (October 2024 to Today)

  • The team is growing. The F&F team has grown from 7 to 9 people and Lo joined our membership team. Shout-out to our new team members: Anahi, Asia, Tim, and Stephanie! And, on top of all that, one of our member-owners, Justine, brought the cutest little human into the world. πŸ’•

  • We worked on over 275 pieces. True to our mission to keep furniture out of the landfill, all of these pieces were either refurbished and given new life OR re-imagined and given new purpose. Many of these came from our amazing clients, some were rescued from the side of the road, and some were donated by the community (space-permitting). πŸͺ‘

  • We upgraded the shop and our skills. We spent several weeks planning and building out a paint booth. We also invested in a bunch of new tools and learned some new tricks by experimenting with new techniques and products. #learnbydoing πŸͺš

  • Found & Fixed pieces are now sold in Kingston. We opened a booth at Red Owl Collective in Kingston to showcase and sell our own pieces though you can still find some pieces in our showroom and on our furniture wall in Highland, ready for some Found & Fixed TLC. πŸ›οΈ

  • Community is still at the heart of our work. We hosted a few workshops including two on the art of kintsugi and another on how to rewire a lamp, which we plan to do again in 2026. We opened up our shop as part of the Highland Open Studios tour again (3rd year running!) and hosted a mixer for other cooperatives in Hudson Valley in partnership with Coop Hudson Valley and the Good Work Institute. 🀝

  • We worked with some rockstar students. In partnership with the Summer Youth Employment Program (via Ulster Works), the Community-engaged learning program (via Vassar), and the Empire Service State Corps (via SUNY), we got to work with some incredible young people, training them as shop assistants or working with them in one of our circles. Shout-out to Anthony, Finn, Hannah, and Amanda! ⭐

  • We got a few high fives and a hat tip. Hudson Valley Magazine named Found & Fixed as the β€œBest of Hudson Valley” for furniture restoration. In celebration of our grand opening, we hosted a ribbon cutting celebration with the Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce and got a hat tip from Senator Michelle Hinchey for our commitment to reducing waste. 🎩

A Note of Gratitude

We remain committed to sharing leadership and governance of our business with each other and focusing on helping our customers enjoy their furniture for another lifetime, keeping usable stuff out of the landfill, and creating great local jobs. Our business is hyper-local and would not be possible without the support of our incredible community. We are immensely grateful for each and every one of our customers, our friends and family, the incredible support orgs around us like Co-op Hudson Valley, and the worker owned coops in our orbit who so happily share notes and skills with us. Thank you for believing in our vision and us!

Stay tuned, we have big plans for 2026!
